From Omi Oh My AI
2015 University Game Jam Minutes
Attending:
Xuan (xXuanadu01), Donna (DonnaTello), Reece (ReeceIllustrates)
Meeting scheduled: 10:00 am
Meeting opened: 10:05 am, minuted by Xuan
General Discussion
- This group was formed for a inter-faculty university game jam in 2015.
- Xuan posted asking for team mates interested in incorporating AI as a content creation tool for a video game. Donna and Reece responded and the group was formed.
- The meeting started with everyone introducing themselves in person, their experience with video games and their expectations for this jam.
- Xuan is studying game design and so she’ll work on game design as well as some sound design and also general project management. If today goes well she would love to keep working on this.
- Reece is an experienced artist and for this project they will be doing art. He gave his blessing for ongoing use of assets created here but won’t be involved after today.
- Donna is a programmer hailing from a computer science major. She was looking for something fun to get some portfolio experience from so she’s happy to keep working after the jam, between work and study commitments.
- The AI we’re using is from a SCEIWA project that a lot of students have been involved with. It has also been used in some other industries too.
- Dr Monti Amal (Monti.Amal@SCEIWA.tech) and Dr Rosie Sachdev (Rosie.Sachdev@SCEIWA.tech) are the project leaders and our contacts there. If there’s any questions they are the ones to reach out to.
- Xuan then explained the Omi AI in more detail and went through the ‘What is an AI?’ document from SCEIWA (in chat).
- Did some quick puzzle brainstorming and decided on scope (image puzzles just for now but maybe text ones down the line too).
- Gameplay loop will be this: Omi gives an image divided into parts like a captcha and a prompt, the player selects all parts of the image that fits the prompt.
- Decided on action items
Meeting closed: 10:40 am
- Check-in again at 12 (and have lunch)
Action items:
Xuan
- Finalise the puzzles

- Choose and compile images from Omi’s database and hide the rest, to keep scope small

Yell atHelp everyone to complete action items
